  TO HAVE A BABY BAPTIZED HERE AT SFA, PARENTS SHOULD REGISTER FOR THE PRE-BAPTISMAL INSTRUCTION CLASS
  To sign up for the pre-baptismal class, please speak with the Pastor after any weekend Mass OR sign up online on our website. (sfamox.org)
  
  SCHEDULE:
  Baptisms:  1:00pm on Saturdays; Charlas (Baptismal Prep Class): Sundays after the Spanish Mass. (See list of dates).
  
  DURING THE PRE-BAPTISMAL CLASS:
  Parents will have the opportunity to fill out the orange baptismal registration form and the date for the baptism will be confirmed.  (PLEASE NOTE: Baptisms usually occur 6-8 weeks AFTER the successful completion of the pre-baptismal class.  This allows time for all necessary paperwork to be completed and submitted to the parish office.
  
  IMPORTANT:
  PARENTS must bring a COPY of the Birth Certificate for each child being baptized to the pre-baptismal class.  (PLEASE DO NOT BRING THE ORIGINAL).   (If we must make a copy for you here, the cost is $5 per copy.) 
  
  PARENTS:

  • Must be registered in the parish and REGULARLY participate in the liturgical life of the parish (weekly Mass attendance AND stewardship/financial support of the parish).  
  • For those not registered in the parish and who do so as part of the baptismal process (newly registered in the parish): It is the policy of the parish to schedule the baptism no sooner than 6-7 months after parish membership begins in order to give the family a chance to become familiar with the parish and to become a part of our parish family. (In the event of a medical emergency of the child involving hospitalization/surgery, please contact the office immediately).
  • Parents must attend the pre-baptismal preparation class (charla).   Date of attendance at charla determines the date of baptism. 
  • Failure to attend/successfully complete charla or submit all required paperwork/documentation by the stated deadline will postpone/cancel the baptism.                                 

  
  GODPARENTS:

  • Must be Catholic (age 16 or older, have received Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation), be registered in a parish and be regularly attending Sunday Mass.
  • Must complete the diocesan baptismal witness form (filled out completely, signed by the godparent AND signed/stamped by the pastor/priest of the parish where the godparent is registered and regularly attending Mass). 
  • If married, must submit WRITTEN proof of marriage within the Catholic Church (a copy of the Marriage certificate from the church where the wedding took place will suffice). 
  • If unmarried (single), may not be living together (cohabitating) with boyfriend/girlfriend or fiancé.
  • Must attend the pre-baptismal class. 
  • Godparents who are registered at another parish may attend the pre-baptismal class at their own parish, BUT must submit a letter/certificate from the parish stating proof that they have successfully completed the pre-baptism class.

  
  DEADLINES:
  ALL paperwork/documentation required for the baptism (including all godparent forms/documentation) must be received here at the church AT LEAST THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO the date of the scheduled baptism. Failure to attend/successfully complete charla or submit all required paperwork/documentation by the stated deadline will postpone/cancel the baptism.
